Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Describe how the muscular system functions.
  2. Describe the energy systems.
  3. Name the major muscle groups of the body, their functions and exercises for each group.
  4. Describe the processes of adaptation that occurs from strength training on the muscular and nervous system.
  5. Describe the cardiovascular anatomy and trace the blood through the respiratory and systemic circulations.
  6. Describe the training adaptations that occur from endurance training on the cardio-respiratory system.
  7. Design exercise programs which incorporate flexibility, core strength, power and strength.
