 Course Description  

Continuation of DSL 102. Theory and shop application of wheels and tires, front (non-drive) axles, steering, suspensions and alignments; adjustment of clutches, both push and pull type, and manual and self-adjusting; basic hydraulic systems. Vehicle inspection and out-of-service criteria.

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

1. Properly remove and install tire and wheel assemblies.
2. Diagnose alignment issues from tire wear patterns- includes rear axle alignment.
3. Inspect and diagnose suspension complaints.
4. Recognize Out of Service (OOS) items during inspection.
5. Understand theory, service, and adjustment of push and pull-type clutches.
6. Service front steer axles and steering gearboxes.
7. Understand the basics of hydraulic systems.
8. Understand the necessity of working together as a team.
9. Communicate and work with a diverse and multicultural population.
