After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Identify major steps in the initiation and progress of a lawsuit.
  2. Identify Washington court rules that apply to each stage of a lawsuit.
  3. Read, understand, and draft a civil complaint.
  4. Organize and use a pleading file.
  5. Explain discovery procedures and identify interrogatories, deposition and related discovery documents and explain purposes of each.
