Student Government

The Associated Students of Skagit Valley College (ASSVC) strive to represent Skagit Valley College (SVC) students on a campus and district wide level.

Each campus at SVC, Mount Vernon and Whidbey, has its own legislature. The campus legislatures handle the day to day and weekly issues present on their home campuses. These campus legislatures then participate cooperatively, once a month, in a district wide government meeting organized and run by the District Officers.

Hello! Welcome to the SVC Student Government web. I hope you learn more about your governmental representatives here. These representatives voice the opinions of the student body to SVC administration. If you have a concern email these students and let your government work on it. This year I anticipate strong elections, community service projects and government members being active, voicing your concerns, in college committees and meetings. If you would like to be a part of this positive, active and powerful student group please email me and we will get you started. Have a great school year!!

My job is dynamic and fun. I feel fortunate to have found a great career that can impact positive change. I get to work with energetic people who make good stuff happen. Along with coordinating new student orientation, graduation, the annual honor's reception, overseeing student programs, teaching student success classes and random other stuff, I advise student leaders in student government, clubs and those wanting to start something new at the college. Student leaders figure out ways to improve things for students. They've brought an ATM and more bike racks to campus. They've supported the start-up of new clubs and activities. Successes like drama club's masquerade ball, the Virginia Tech candlelight tribute, and the student nursing club's trip to the Bodies Exhibit in Seattle happened due to student leaders efforts. Have an idea? Want to make cool stuff happen? Stop by my office! I'd love to meet you.
