2009 Men's Soccer Team
11/7/09
The Cardinals men's soccer team finished our 2009 season with a loss against Shoreline CC 1-2. Even though, the result was not what we were looking for but we it did not reflect on all the positives we were able to achieve this season. The coaching staff is extremely proud on how the team were able to fight ourselves back in the second half of the season. The program would like to thank everyone who was involved in helping to rebuild this program. Special thanks to our alumni and supporters who were able to make this year happen.

Going into the last 2 games of the season. The SVC Men's Soccer Team still had a chance to make the NWAACC playoffs. However, our hopes were foiled with a 2-2 tie against Everett CC today. The Trojans took advantage of our lack of focus in the first half and scored two early goals. Again, with character and determination, the Cardinal Men were able to rebound back with two second half goals by Henrik Iversen in the 51st min and Rodrigo Campos in the 84th min. We were pushing for the win, however, we could not find the back of the net one more time after several great chances. Our last home game is going to be on this Saturday against Shoreline CC. Come out and support the graduating sophomores!

SVC Men's Soccer Team tied 2-2 against Whatcom CC at home. Whatcom came in the match seeded on the top of the Northern Division. Early in the game, Whatcom came out the gates strong by scoring an early goal at the 15th min to go up 1-0. The Cardinals men had our share of opportunities in the first half but it's the play of our keeper Johnny Wong that kept us in the game. After Whatcom scored another goal to go up 2-0 early in the second half, the coaching staff and the players understood the importance to get back in order to keep our playoff goal alive. Our tenacity was awarded with a goal by Waed Ali (69min) and later with a stunning shot by Curtis Hacksworth (86min) to tie the game. The coaching staff is proud of Cardinals men's effort and their decision to fight ourselves back. We are looking to prepare for next opponent Everett CC on Wednesday 11/4 at 2pm.

SVC Men's Soccer Team lost 1-3 to Shoreline CC yesterday on a rainy day. After a great start by scoring a early goal by Daniel Burns (FW) for the Cardinals side. The SCC Men's team was able to equalize on the 44th min right before half time. This swayed the momentum to our opponent and they were able to grab the lead in the second half. However, the Cardinal men were not flustered by the deficit and were able to create many opportunities including a one be one situation that missed inches off the post. SCC secured the win by scoring late in the game. The coaching staff is still pleased with the performance taking in consideration of many injuries of the starting lineup.
