Thank you for your interest in the programs offered by the Nursing Department, Skagit Valley College, Whidbey Island Campus (WIC).  Programs offered by the Nursing Department at WIC include; Practical Nursing (Certificate), LPN to RN (second year associates degree in Registered Nursing), and Nursing Assistant.

 

Certificate in Practical Nursing:

The Skagit Valley College, Whidbey Island Campus Practical Nursing Program is approved by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission.  The full-time practical nursing program is four quarters in length.  The part-time Practical Nursing program is seven quarters in length.  Graduates of the practical nursing program receive a Certificate in Practical Nursing and are eligible to apply for the State Licensing Examination for Practical Nursing. A program waitlist is maintained by the Whidbey Island Campus Nursing Department.

 

LPN to RN (Second Year Associates Degree in Registered Nursing):

The Skagit Valley College, Whidbey Island Campus LPN to RN Program is the second year of the Associate Degree in Registered Nursing.  The program is approved by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission and accredited by the National League of Nursing Accreditation Commission.  The LPN to RN Program is a part-time program that is five quarters in length.  Graduates of this program receive an Associates Degree in Registered Nursing and are eligible to apply for the State Licensing Examination for Registered Nursing.  A program waitlist is maintained by the Whidbey Island Campus Nursing Department.

 

Nursing Assistant and Aids Education, NURS 100:

Nursing 100 is a State approved course that includes 35 classroom hours and 50 clinical hours of Nursing Assistant instruction and training. Upon successful completion of this course students receive a certificate of completion and are eligible to apply for the State Licensing Examination for Nursing Assistants.
