Head Volleyball Coach

Volleyball Headcoach Zach CallesZach Calles

Born in Hawaii and into a volleyball family, Zach began his competitive career after joining the Navy. His naval career provided him the opportunity to compete around the world in countries such as Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Israel, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, and Jordan.

Zach's coaching career started as an Assistant Coach for the Travis Air Force Men's team which competed against some of the top teams in Northern California. After moving to San Diego, he accepted the Head Coach position for the 32nd Street men's team where he guided them to two Southwestern Regional Finals. Coach Calles then made the transition to coaching juniors when he moved to Virginia Beach, VA as the Head Coach for Tidewater Volleyball Boys 18 team. He coached this team to three regional championships and top 20 showings at the USA Volleyball Junior Olympic National Championship.

Zach will begin his second year as Head Coach for the Lady Cardinals.  He brings a wealth of knowledge from his involvement with USA Volleyball and Puget Sound Region High Performance Program.  Last year, Coach Calles guided the Puget Sound Select High Performance Team to a 10th place finished at the USA Volleyball High Performance National Championships.

Locally, Coach Calles is the Club Director for Skagit Island Volleyball Academy (SIVA) and the Head Coach for SIVA 18.  His team is currently ranked third in the Puget Sound Region, and three teams in his program are ranked in the upper half (top 30) within their respective divisions."
