Job Skills Grants

Partner In Training

The Job Skills Program awards competitive grants to licensed educational institutions in Washington State who partner with business and industry members for the purpose of supporting three types of training:

  • New employees for facility openings and expansions
  • Retraining current employees to prevent layoffs and promote employer competitiveness
  • Upgrade training of current employees for promotional opportunities, creating vacancies for new hires

The Job Skills Program funds industry-education partnerships by delivering customized, short term and job specific training. Through matching grants, the Job Skills Program supports up to one-half of the total cost of the training with the participating companies providing dollar-for-dollar cash or in kind matches for the remainder.

Services available through the Job Skills Program include:

  • Basic education and skills, including English language for non-native speakers
  • Technical Skills Training
  • Job related instruction
  • Skills assessment, testing and evaluation for training outcomes
  • Training equipment, materials, facilities and supplies
