Dan Nelson, Department Chair/Instructor
Dan has been a metalworker and welder all of his adult life. His first 20 years in welding was spent working on construction sites, shipyards, and industrial plants all over the country. Dan's next 20 years in the welding field have been spent teaching at Skagit Valley College. Special areas of interest include computer-controlled welding and cutting processes and the application of mathematics to layout and fitting. Dan enjoys helping students realize their futures as skilled workers in the welding and metalworking industries.
Michael Baker, Instructor
Welding and fabrication have been Mike's passion since he was a young man doing repairs on the farm.
Mike began building aluminum boats in the early 80's and climbed the ladder from there. He's worked in all aspects of boat building including supervision, design, estimating, quality control. Through the course of his career, he earned several certifications, including TIG Welding of Aluminum pipe and welding of exotic metals.
