Maritza AcevedoMaritza Acevedo is a senior at BENHS. Maritza has made many positive steps as she transitioned to BENHS. She is a leader in the Hispanic community and promotes her culture and ideals with students and staff. She is also actively working on blood drives and food drives through the BENHS community outreach program.
 
Jealisa AguilarJealisa Aguilar is a junior at SWHS. Jealisa is a volunteer with the Park Service, planting trees, building campsites and growing native plants. She is a Running Start student at SVC Jealisa is an active leader as a student mentor as well as through her involvement in both sports and clubs.
 
Chelsea BlackChelsea Black is a senior at MVHS. Chelsea works at the Royal Fork as a cashier. She is an amazing photographer and artist. Chelsea hopes to help children overcome learning disabilities and is gifted for her sensitivity toward others.
 
General CayouGeneral Cayou is a sophomore at LCHS. He is a member of the Swinomish Tribe and has learned the importance of balancing his cultural life with his school life. General honors his family, his tribe and his school. He is in his 2nd year of Leadership class at LaConner. He volunteers for the Kiwanis food basket drive, Omak Stampede Pow-Wow, and helps at community events.
 
Jazmin CeceñaJazmin Ceceña is a senior at MVHS and will be the first in her family to graduate from high school. She is involved with LEAP and has volunteered both as a tutor at Centennial Elementary School and with Hispanic teens at her church. Jazmin is interested in furthering her education in Early Childhood Education at a university.
 
Karen CejaKaren Ceja is a junior at BEHS. Karen is a very dedicated academic student who has balanced her college preparatory schedule with numerous outreach programs to assist others in the community, specifically the Hispanic community. As part of her child psychology class, she is volunteering her time assisting in pre-school and daycare programs.
 
Meliza CervantesMeliza Cervantes is a senior at MVHS. She has demonstrated a commitment to community service and leadership by volunteering at Skagit Valley Hospital, at a lifecare center, at the library, and in youth groups. She is involved in Link, LEAP, DECA and the French club. Meliza will be a 1st generation college student and has shown noteworthy tenacity in overcoming her personal challenges.
 
Taylor ChambersTaylor Chambers is a senior at MVHS. Taylor is involved in the Link program, and has volunteered at Skagit Valley Hospital. She aspires to be either an Air Force pilot or an attorney.
 
Laura CisnerosLaura Cisneros is a senior at MVHS. Laura has prevailed over many obstacles and is determined to be the first person in her family to graduate from high school. She has been very engaged with the Latino Dance Club and has volunteered at her church. In addition, she helped provide services to the needy while raising a family. After graduation she intends to pursue a college education. She uses her kindness, intelligence, and perseverance as an example, and hopes that her role modeling will assure her daughter of a better life.
 
Daniel CoronaDaniel Corona is a junior at MVHS. Daniel hopes to be the first in his family to attend college. He plays many instruments (guitar, bass, keyboards, trumpet, baritone and trombone) and sings each week at several churches. He plans to pursue a degree in mathematics.
 
Aurelio CruzAurelio Cruz is a senior at AHS. Aurelio is a sincere and dedicated member of the Samish Tribe who travels to different reservations in Washington State, drumming and singing at spritual gatherings. He has a commitment to the elders of his tribal community, with a quiet presence that promotes a sense of trust. He is a natural leader who is devoted to helping youth who are healing from addictions.
 
David DatskyDavid Datsky is a sophomore at MVHS. David was born in Russia and immigrated to the US when he was 4 years old. He is the oldest of six children and helps out with babysitting for his family. He is fluent in English, Ukranian, and Russian and is very computer literate . He is willing and able to help many students complete projects and gain computer skills. He has a soft heart for those who don't understand English. He is very active in his church's youth group.
 
Zeyna DeVerZeyna DeVer is a junior at BENHS. She is an excellent self-advocate and has gained the respect of students and staff because of her work ethic and sincere support for others. She has volunteered to organize blood drives and food drives for those less fortunate.
 
Lacey DusseaultLacey Dusseault is a junior at SWHS. Lacey is active in community events and volunteers readily with youth cheerleading and leadership. She is constantly trying to involve her classmates in activities and clubs and introduce them to new experiences. She takes advanced level classes and eventually wants to become a scientist or teacher.
 
Shaelene EdwardsShaelene Edwards is a senior at LCHS. She is proud of her Swinomish and Tulalip heritage and honors her family and community obligations while following the path of a successful student at LCHS. Balancing the dichotomy of tribal expectations and those of the LCHS community is challenging. She has been a member of the ASB and enrolled in leadership class. In addition she was a cheerleader and played on the basketball team. She plans to attend WWU and pursue a degree in a helping field.
 
Jessica EsparzaJessica Esparza is a senior at MVHS. She understands the importance of her education and is working hard to prepare herself for college. She participates in the sports medicine program and is learning valuable skills and methods for helping others with sports injuries.
 
Olivo Flores-CruzOlivo Flores-Cruz is a senior at MVHS. Olivo is a diligent, committed student and will be the first person in his family to graduate from high school. He has done community service for SVC and attends GEAR UP. Fluent in Spanish, English, and some Mixteco, Olivo is a tremendous asset to his community. He plans to go to a university and major in Engineering.
 
Leilani GibbonsLeilani Gibbons is a senior at SWHS. She has passed out food on the streets of Seattle, spent summers working at a camp for disabled kids, and developed a cleanup program for her neighborhood with her family. She is involved in sports and served as a student government officer. Leilani hopes to become a pediatric oncologist.
 
Ricardo González-GarciaRicardo González-Garcia is a senior at MVHS. Ricardo is an excellent role model at school. He is polite, helpful, friendly, dependable and leads by example. Ricardo arrived in Mt. Vernon his sophomore year from Plainview, MN— quite a cultural contrast. As a new student, he made quick connections with students, teachers and staff. He understands the importance of being his own advocate and has done extremely well.
 
Lorenzo GregoryLorenzo Gregory is a junior at SWHS. Lorenzo is a member of College Bound Club and volunteers to help with activities to support efforts toward college awareness and preparation. He is a valued tutor and motivates students to explore their studies, and encourages them to solve problems on their own. Lorenzo is known as an academic leader who is quick to offer help.
 
Nancy GuillénNancy Guillén is a junior at SWHS, and hopes to work in the health field. She has participated in the Child Development course at SWHS where she was brave enough to teach children in English, even though English is a struggle for her. She is also an exemplary student who has completed extra classes to graduate through the PASS program.
 
Liliana GuzmanLiliana Guzman is a senior at BENHS. She has volunteered for the past two years in the school blood and food drives and at an elementary school library.
 
Kara HolmanKara Holman is a senior at SSHS. She has been involved in the Native American culture and spent two years studying Klallam, a Native American language. Kara is an active member of Be the Change, a group that works to promote cultural understanding. As a team member of FBLA, she competed regionally and advanced to compete at the state level. Kara plans to pursue a degree in business management.
 
Scott JohnsonScott Johnson is a senior at MVHS. Scott is known as a kind and committed student with good leadership skills. He is insightful and as a passionate leader, he inspires others. Scott is an African-American student in a school that is heavily white and Latino. He has mastered the ability to make others comfortable, despite their own issues and discomforts.
 
Katie KolakowskiKatie Kolakowski is a junior at SWHS. Katie is the president and dynamic leader of SWHS's Club Diversity, despite the fact that the club's membership is primarily seniors. Katie belongs to the Debate Club, and is coordinating costumes for the fall play. She will pursue a career in musical performance.
 
Gabriela LunaGabriela Luna is a sophomore at BEHS. Gabriela is a mentor, a Natural Helper, and a member of both FBLA and Debate. She participated in the North Cascades Wildlife Program and hopes to attend the University of Washington and work for NASA.
 
Elizabeth MadrigalElizabeth Madrigal is a junior at SWHS. She helps her mom run their Mexican store in Mount Vernon and participated in both the Latinos Unidos Club and FBLA. Elizabeth plans to attend college and study business.
 
Jenny MarínJenny Marín is a senior at SWHS. Jenny is a member of the College Bound Club, the Latinos Unidos Club and FBLA. She has given speeches about AVID to the Sedro Woolley Rotary Club. She tutors at a nearby elementary school and translates for parents at school events.
 
Magali MartínezMagali Martínez is a senior at SWHS. Magali has been active in the National Honor Society, French Club, College Bound Club and Latinas Club. She has become a model multi-lingual translator of English, French, and Spanish. Her dream is to go to college and pursue a science career. She will be the first in her family to attend college.
 
Carissa MasonCarissa Mason is a junior at SWHS. Carissa is Vice-President of SWHS's Club Diversity. She exhibits poise and serves as a role model for the underclassmen in the group. Outside of school, Carissa fosters kittens for the Humane Society. She hope to study veterinary medicine or psychology in college.
 
Jordan MayfieldJordan Mayfield is a junior at SWHS. She is both driven and gifted with the help she offers special needs students at school. She is often seen at SWHS helping students even though her own schedule includes three advanced level classes.
 
Indira MejiaIndira Mejia is a junior at MVHS.  Indira is involved in ASB, AVID and LEAP. She helps with the school district's long term planning process and teaches a children's class at her church. She plans to pursue a career in criminal justice.
 
Isaias MondarIsaias Mondar is a senior at MVHS. He is a tutor at a local elementary school, is an AVID student, and an active participant in the MVHS Science Night. He speaks four languages: English, French, Mixteco, and Spanish, and demonstrates a keen interest in the cultures and traditions of many ethnic groups. He will be the first in his family to graduate from high school.
 
Gabriel MuñozGabriel Muñoz is a senior at MVHS, volunteers in a reading class at high school and teaches basketball at a local elementary school. He will be the first in his family to graduate from high school and the first generation to go to college. Gabriel's dream is to help make a difference by becoming a high school English teacher.
 
Daniel NesserDaniel Nesser is a senior at OHHS. He is the Commanding Officer of his NJROTC Unit and an active member of the National Honor Society. He volunteers after school tutoring, for Salvation Army Holiday Bell ringing, and local beach clean-up efforts. He is active in his church with Migrant Mission Outreach projects and attends various youth rallies and retreats. He plans to attend UWS and pursue a civil engineering degree, followed by a career as a U.S. Naval Officer.
 
Paola Orozco PulidoPaola Orozco Pulido is a sophomore at BEHS. As an AVID student she challenges herself by taking college prep classes and is actively involved in our community. She helps with the Skagit Buddy Walk and volunteers at both United General Hospital and Westview Elementary School. She plans to pursue nursing at a university.
 
Ben O'ReillyBen O'Reilly is a junior at SWHS. Each summer Ben works at a summer camp with disabled adults. His patience and sense of humor earn Ben many close friends.
 
Ausencio OrtizAusencio Ortiz is a senior at BEHS. He strives to become a chef and has concentrated on taking classes that will help him achieve his career goals. He is an active partipant in Latinos in Action. He mentors and tutors young schoolmates and is a volunteer translator at the Skagit Kidney Center.
 
Eric OrtizEric Ortiz is a senior at BEHS. He volunteered at the food bank and worked in the Youth Migrant Project. Eric is very involved in the Latino community as a mentor and tutor. His goal is to become a translator.
 
Geri PerezGeri Perez is a senior at MVHS. She participated in Link leaders, GEAR UP, Latino Club, and Project Porch Light distributing energy efficient light bulbs to homes. Geri will be the first in her family to graduate from high school. Her passion is to become a physical therapist.
 
Beatriz PonceBeatriz Ponce is a senior at MVHS. Beatriz is an active member of LEAP and French Club. She also tutors middle school students and plans to become a psychologist. She will be the first person from her family to attend college and sees the accompishment as an honor to her mother. She hopes to carry on as a positive role model to others in her community as she moves forward with her education.
 
Maribel RodríguezMaribel Rodríguez is a junior at AHS. Maribel was selected for the Hugh O'Brian Youth Scholarship and has a sincere commitment to realizing her dreams of attending college and making a difference. She has great ownership in her future and is respected by peers and adults alike. Maribel also serves as an inspiration to younger students!
 
Herminia SanchezHerminia Sanchez is a senior at SWHS. Herminia was the treasurer of the Latinos Unidos Club last year, and was integral to planning and carrying out the district's first community Cinco de Mayo party. She is an AVID student and mentored middle school students through Club Latinos. As a Sparrow Club member she helped raise money for sick children in the community. She would like to study nursing at a 4-year university.
 
Noemi SeguedaNoemi Segueda is a senior at MVHS. Noemi works as a medical volunteer at Skagit Valley Hospital. She is also an intern at the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce. She has been an active AVID student and will be the first person in her family to attend college. She wants to major in public relations and minor in English literature.
 
Brenda SolísBrenda Solís is a senior at MVHS. She has attended several summer programs at the UWS: the U-DOC and UW Nurse Camp and she represented our state at U.S. Space Camp. She also attended the Close Up Leadership Conference in Washington DC and made presentations on what she learned both in Olympia and here in Mount Vernon. Brenda is an active member of Latino Leaders club and Link. Brenda aspires to attend the UWS and practice medicine.
 
Nancy Soto-RodríguezNancy Soto-Rodríguez is a sophomore at BEHS. She is an AVID student and volunteers for her church's food bank as well as the Skagit Buddy Walk. She plans to attend a 4-year university majoring in business.
 
Ashley ThrasherAshley Thrasher is a senior at BENHS. Ashley co-wrote a grant that funded a youth group she helped to develop. She plans to attend SVC and major in Human Services.
 
Travis Van CampTravis Van Camp is a junior at MVHS. Travis volunteers his time helping his community through his youth group. He has become a friend and mentor to disadvantaged youth through his volunteer efforts with the Stanford Drive Neighborhood.
 
Deifilia VasquezDeifilia Vasquez is a junior at MVHS. She received a migrant student leadership award, and volunteers at Skagit Valley Hospital as well as her church. In addition, she is a Link leader, an AVID student, and belongs to the Between Friends Club.
