Theater Arts Facilities

Facilities for Success

Hodson Hall, which houses the art, music and theatre arts programs will be remodeled during the 2003/04 academic year.  The building will reopen in the fall of 2005 with new art studios, music classrooms and rehearsal space and updated classrooms.

The Phillip Tarro Theatre is a 200 seat flexible performance space and is the home of the Theater Arts.  The space takes readily to proscenium, thrust or arena staging.  State of the art computer lighting control and dimmer systems and a full compliment of instruments allow for inventive and artistic lighting design.  Multiple sound outputs and recording devices include 4 and 2 track mini-disc, compact disc, cassette tape and reel-to-reel.  All lighting and sound equipment is located in the control booth overlooking the stage and auditorium.  Dressing and makeup rooms are located back stage.

The Acting Studio is directly behind the stage and is used for performance classes and rehearsals.  This is the perfect space for workshop productions.

The Scene Shop is located across from the theatre and includes all of the tools you will be required to use in the profession.  Aluminum welding and fabrication is a method often used in our shop to construct flats and set pieces and is a skill you can learn while at SVC.
