REQUIREMENTS FOR NURSING PROGRAM

A. Criminal Background Checks

These are processed on each incoming nursing student by the Washington State Patrol.  Refusal to allow such processing will result in clinical facility not permitting access to student.  In addition, if a "less than satisfactory" rating is assigned to a student by the State Patrol, the clinical facilities will not permit access to the student.  While entrance to the nursing program will not be denied if a "less than satisfactory" rating results, without access to the clinical facilities, students will be unable to satisfactorily complete the Nursing courses.  For further information, see Disqualify Crimes List.

B.  Student Immunization

Accepted nursing students are required to complete the Student Immunization Form and to provide verification of completed elements.  Immunization information is placed on file with the Admissions Office.  Without immunization, the student is not permitted access to clinical facilities and permission to enter or continue in the Nursing Program will be denied.    Once accepted into the program students must keep current CPR and Immunizations in order to register for each nursing course.

Evidence of the following is required:

  1. Tuberculin skin test within the past 12 months.  If a tuberculin skin test has not been administered in the previous 24 months, 2 such tests are required.  If any of the Tuberculin skin tests are positive, a chest x-ray with written results and a personal statement of "no symptoms of TB are present" is required.
