  1. Who will grade me at the end of the quarter?

Your Faculty Sponsor and the coordinator.

  1. What is the role of the Faculty Sponsor?

To help you determine your Learning Objectives, give you assistance when necessary, and to review your assignments.

  1. What is the role of the Site Supervisor?

To supervise your internship (LIA) at the place you are doing it. Approves your Learning objectives and signs your time sheet verifying hours, fills out a Site Supervisor Evaluation. If doing independent project, your Faculty Sponsor is your supervisor.

  1. Can I start my LIA project before I register?

Yes, if it is within a few weeks of the registration date and you have turned in your contract with objectives statement.

  1. Can I use my High School Service Learning project for my LIA project?.

Some senior projects may Qualify for LIA.  Please talk with the LIA Coordinator.

  1. Can I use a current job or activity as an LIA project?

Yes, as long as you are applying classroom skills and you are able to demonstrate NEW knowledge and skills as an outcome.

  1. Can I take more than one credit of LIA?

Yes, but LIA falls under "Gray Area Electives." You should see your advisor to learn more about these types of electives. You will aslo have additional requirements for each additional credits. (see learning contract)

  1. How do I register?

Register under the appropriate department or area in which you want to pursue. For example, you plan on pursuing a science field, then register for BISC 299.  So, register under the appropriate department followed by 299. If you are doing online registration enter your code for LIA before the codes for other classes.

  1. What if I am a student from the Mount Vernon Campus?
