Visual Arts Faculty
Ann Reid attended the University of Washington, Washington State University and Eastern Washington University where she received her Master of Arts degree. After teaching at Spokane Falls Community College and acting as Director of Touchstone Center for the Visual Arts she moved to Skagit County to teach in the Art Department at Skagit Valley College. Her studio work in pastels has been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions regionally and nationally. Ann developed and directed the Skagit Valley Art Gallery from 1987 to 1995 and has been awarded the Puget Power Outstanding Teaching in Excellence Award and the Washington Community College Humanities Award.
Greg Tate has been teaching at Skagit Valley College for the past 26 years. He received his Master of Fine Arts degree in painting and ceramics from Washington State University in 1975. He was hired in 1976 to stat the ceramic program at SVC. Over the years he has shown work in various juried group and one-man shows including: North West Crafts, Henry Gallery, University of Washington; "Bumbershoot, Seattle; Anacortes Arts and Crafts Exhibitions; Whatcom Museum International Exhibition; Linfield College, McMinnville, OR; Whitman College, Walla Walla, WA; Center for the Visual Arts, Newport, OR; and the Crafts International, University of Minnesota at Duluth. In 1996 he traveled to Ireland for a sabbatical leave to study illuminated manuscripts and Celtic art. Greg is also the director of the SVC Art Gallery.
