Whidbey Island Campus GED Testing
Congratulations on taking one of the most important steps of your life—earning your GED credential! Millions of people like you have taken the GED Tests to get a better job, continue their education, or to feel better about themselves. The GED Tests measure your knowledge and academic skills against those of today's traditional high school graduates.
The GED exam is a series of five tests given to provide students a certificate of competency if they have not completed their high school education. Testing at SVC Whidbey
TEST CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
1. The minimum age to test is 16.
2. If under the age of 19 years of age, provide an approval to test form signed by the high school representative (available at the high school).
3. If under the age of 19 years of age and home schooled, notarized statement of home schooling (available by emailing WIC.GED@skagit.edu).
4. ID-WA driver's license, WA state ID, military ID card, passport, out-of-state license accepted with proof of WA state residency.
5. Receipt of payment.
6. Schedule all test in Student Services office, Whidbey Island Campus, at least 24 hours before test time.

ON THE SCHEDULED DATE (bring receipt of payment, ID and paper work):
1. First-time testers: Arrive 30 minutes early for the first test to fill out paper work. If the paper work is not filled out before the test, the test cannot be taken.
2. Subsequent testers: Arrive a few minutes early.

GED Testing times by subject: Fee Rates:
Writing (Part 1) multiple choice 75 minutes $75.00 to complete GED exam.
Writing (Part 2) essay 45 minutes $15.00 to retake any part of the test
Social Studies 70 minutes $5.00 for an official transcript
Science 80 minutes
Reading 65 minutes
Math (Part 1) 45 minutes
Math (Part 2) 45 minutes
Scoring:
A minimum score of 410 is required to pass each subject; however, an average score of 450 is required to pass all five. A student with a minimum score in each subject will not pass the entire series of tests.
GED Test Preparation-Test takers may choose to prepare for the GED through a variety of ways:

The SVC Whidbey Island Campus Library has a selection of practice books available for 3-day checkout for those students enrolled in a SVC Adult Basic Education class.
4. Sno-Isle Regional Library Online Services
On-line practice is available at Online GED Practice Test at no charge for students who possess a Sno-Isle Regional Library card. Once at the site; select "GED Testing Service" from the Program and Services list. Then select "Information for Test Takers" then select "Sample Questions".
