Chris Palmer

Allo,

Welcome to Skagit Valley College!  My name is Chris Palmer.  I am the Associated Students of Skagit Valley College (ASSVC) President for the 2007-2008 school year.  My goal for this year is to represent you and the rest of the Skagit Valley College (SVC) student body.  I am hoping to get to know all, or at least most, of you well enough so I can represent you at any of the meetings that I will attend to help improve our learning experience.

The job of the ASSVC Student Government is to represent the students of Skagit Valley College.  We serve as a link between the students and the college administration.  It is also our responsibility to make life for the students a little easier.  If there are any issues that you have about anything on campus or questions about campus life; please drop by your respective campus's Student Government office.

You should always feel free to drop by the Student Government offices.  All of us in the Student Government wish to get to know all of you better.  Talk to us.  Only then can we help you solve your problems.  I welcome you to Skagit Valley College and bid you good luck with your courses.

Sincerely,

Chris Palmer

"Hi! My name is Kit Vanderboll, and I am your District Secretary. I served as a Campus Representative on Student Government last year; Student Government is a great opportunity to be involved and I am happy to continue work this year. I am a 2nd degree Black Belt in TaeKwonDo, a Korean martial art; having recently achieved my Instructor Trainee certification, I compete and teach in this art form. This experience has taught me a lot about leadership. I am very interested in learning about other cultures. Skagit Valley College is a great place for that, with our proudly multicultural student body. I am a Scottish Country Dancer, and am learning the Scottish Gaelic language.

"I am excited to be a student at Skagit Valley College. I like the campus, the classes, the supportive faculty, the opportunities, and most of all, I enjoy meeting you—the students. I promise to listen to your concerns and suggestions on how to make Skagit Valley College the best it can be. I am proud to continue to serve you in our Student Government."

Hello! Welcome to the SVC Student Government web. I hope you learn more about your governmental representatives here. These representatives voice the opinions of the student body to SVC administration. If you have a concern email these students and let your government work on it. This year I anticipate strong elections, community service projects and government members being active, voicing your concerns, in college committees and meetings. If you would like to be a part of this positive, active and powerful student group please email me and we will get you started. Have a great school year!!

This is a great year for your student government.  With effective student leadership, involvement in government is a great way to learn, grow, and meet the needs of other students.  Your involvement is the key.  If you have ideas of how the government can better serve SVC students, please contact an officer or representative or run for office yourself

My job is dynamic and fun. I feel fortunate to have found a great career that can impact positive change. I get to work with energetic people who make good stuff happen. Along with coordinating new student orientation, graduation, the annual honor's reception, overseeing student programs, teaching student success classes and random other stuff, I advise student leaders in student government, clubs and those wanting to start something new at the college. Student leaders figure out ways to improve things for students. They've brought an ATM and more bike racks to campus. They've supported the start-up of new clubs and activities. Successes like drama club's masquerade ball, the Virginia Tech candlelight tribute, and the student nursing club's trip to the Bodies Exhibit in Seattle happened due to student leaders efforts. Have an idea? Want to make cool stuff happen? Stop by my office! I'd love to meet you.
