Whidbey Island Campus Graduation Information
· Rehearsal runs one hour to 1 ½ hours. This practice will show you where, how, when and what you do for this important ceremony.
· READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS so you know the flow and what to do.
Graduation Ceremony at O.H.H.S. Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 3:30 p.m.
Information and reminders:
· There is no limit to the number of people you can invite to graduation. Tickets for admission are not required.
· Children are welcomed at the ceremony, but for their safety and the consideration of other graduates and their guests, be sure they are in the care of an adult and are seated in the audience.
· Smoking is not allowed inside the buildings.
· If one of your guests should need special seating or assistance because of a disability or physical restriction, please contact Carol Funk at 679-5319 prior to June 9, 2008.
· Remember to pick up your cap, gown, and tassel from the bookstore starting week of June 2, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
· Open cap and gown package to be sure all parts are included. Hang them up to get out the wrinkles.
· Wear Departmental and President's medal, honor cords, and PTK stoles.
· Mortarboards (caps) are to be worn with the tassel on the RIGHT side. The top of the cap should be horizontal on the top of your head, not angled toward the back.

· Line up immediately behind the person you wish to sit next to during the ceremony.
· Keep your spacing even. Don't hurry but also don't lag behind.
· The Procession starts exactly at 3:30 P.M.
Procession order and instructions:
· Platform Guests, Faculty, and Graduates
· Remain standing until the national anthem is completed and the Vice President says, "You may be seated".
· Welcome by Dr. Donahue, President's Address and college awards
· Awarding of Diplomas
1. President and Vice President come forward.
2. Board members come forward.
3. Faculty/Staff Readers take their places.
4. Ushers will go to the first front row and will signal for the entire row to stand.
5. Grads will present their name card to reader. When your name is called, walk forward to Dr. Tollefson and Dr. Donahue to shake hands.
6. Shake hands with the Trustees. Shake with your right hand and receive the cover with your left hand. Turn either to the left or right (depending on which side you are sitting) then exit to your seat.
7. Next, proceed down to your row, wait until the entire row is there, then all sit down at once. Watch for the last person in the row for your cue. Ushers will go to the next row.
8. After the last person gets their diploma, WAIT for the President to say, "You have all the rights and honors…"
· The Student Representative will return to the microphone (all graduates stand) and will announce, "I would like to present the Class of 2007". Graduates move their tassels from right to left.
· Dr. Donahue will say "This concludes the ceremony" and the music starts.
· Platform guests will exit their seats first, then faculty, then graduates. Faculty will line up on both sides of the center aisle and the graduates will pass between them to exit the gym.
· The recessional ends in the field house where a reception begins immediately following the ceremony.
· Professional graduation photographs will be available after the ceremony (5 pm).

· Payment is due at time of order (check, cash or credit card - add $1 for credit card charges).
· Packages will be ready within 2 weeks and pick up is at Michael's Photography.
