• Creative Writing in 3D: A "Playshop." Explore ways to turn a single idea into three forms of writing: fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. Playshop leaders will share their own writing processes and an introduction to each form. Bring your favorite writing tools (pen, pencil, laptop). Playshop faculty, Ted O'Connell, Jennifer Handley, and Chuck Luckmann, will provide paper. Hodson-211; Session 1.
• Poetry Slam—Where Writing Meets Rap. Compete with other "slam" participants in this energizing workshop of rapid-fire improvisation—or just hang out in the audience and be one of the judges. If you've ever wondered what a poetry slam is or how a poet can become "the heavyweight champion of the world," bring a pen and your curiosity. Competitions will be umpired by SVC student poets. Winners will receive bragging rights and possible prizes. Hodson-211; Session 2.
