Math Success Skills (7 credits) – CSS 100 and one of the following: MATH 96/97/98/99
Students will discover the secrets of college success as they explore learning strategies to succeed in mathematics and online courses. Students must visit http://skagit.edu/wic math for information regarding textbooks and other required supplies for math classes.
 
Engl 104 Distance Education (10 credits) – ENG 104 and one of the following: BUS 201/PHIL 215/SOC 101
This Linked Learning Community explores the nature of research and writing as they are practiced in specific disciplines.
 
Sweet Land of Liberty? Writing about History (D) (10 credits) – ENG 101/HIST 146
The period of U.S. history from exploration, colonization, rebellion, government formation to the civil war provides the background for investigating basic notions of liberty, nationality, order and justice. Students will use writing as a central investigative tool to examine some of these ideas. Prerequisite: Appropriate test scores or grade of 2.0 or better in ENGL 099.
 
Antigone to Antimatter (W, D) (10 credits) – ENG 114/PHYS 100
This course explores how the arts and sciences in general, and drama and physics specifically, help us to understand ourselves and the world around us.

Winter 2010 Classes

This writing link explores the nature of academic writing as it is practiced in different disciplines. Prerequisite: Appropriate test scores or grade of 2.0 or better in ENGL 099.
 
English 104 Distance Education  (10 credits) – ENG 104 and one of the following: BUS 201/PHIL 215/SOC 101
This learning community explores the nature of research and writing as it is practiced in specific disciplines including Business, Philosophy or Sociology. To take the writing link, students must co-enroll in one of the designated course combinations. Prerequisite: Grade of 2.0 or better in ENGL 101.
 
Sights and Sounds of Society (R, D) (10 credits) – ART 141/MUSIC 105
As an introduction to the Visual and Aural Arts, this e-learning course will explore the relationship between fine arts and music and their connection to society throughout history.

Spring 2010 Classes

This learning community explores the nature of research and writing as it is practiced in specific disciplines including Economics, Philosophy or Sociology. To take the writing link, students must co-enroll in one of the designated course combinations. Prerequisite: Grade of 2.0 or better in ENGL 101.
                     
Teaching to Hope: Writing about Global Issues (10 credits) – ENG 101/SOC 100
Overpopulation, food production, colonialism, security issues, resource
management, etc. provide the background for investigating basic problems
through the written essay in search of reasonable solutions.
 
The Artist: Image, Story, Feeling (W, D) (10 credits) – ART 141/ENG 202
This course explores the interconnections between the visual and literary arts. Fieldtrips (one to a major museum is required, others are optional). E-Learning (course meets 10 hours per week online).
