Texts for Fall Quarter:

Intermediate Algebra (Math 99)
     1.)  Beginning and Intermediate Algebra, 3rd or 4th edition, K. Elayn Martin-Gay
2.)  Access Code for MyMathLab (can be purchased online)
3.)  A graphing calculator is also required.  TI-83,TI84, TI89 will work fine.
(You may purchase the Access Code for MyMathLab and just use the online text.  A hardcopy of the book is not necessary.  If you prefer to have a paper copy you can purchase older editions for less online.  Calculators are available to rent for $20 per quarter or you may find a good deal at a pawn shop.)

Introduction to Statistics (Math 146)
Elementary Statistics, 10th edition, Mario F. Triola
(The 8th or 9th edition of the text may be purchased online for considerable savings)

A Problem to Keep You Busy:

Evening Commute:
Tommy gets picked up from the train station after work each day by his wife. By chance he finished work a bit early one day and got to the train station one hour early.  Rather than calling his wife, he just started walking toward home.  His wife spotted him and picked him up, turned around, and they got home 20 minutes early.  If Tommy's wife left home at the usual time, how long was Tommy walking?
