Roger Valentine has been the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Skagit Valley College since 1992 and has taken 10 out of 15 teams to the NWAACC Tournament and in 1999 was named Northern Region Coach of the Year.

Coach Valentine was born and raised in Mount Vernon, WA and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1974. He then attended Skagit Valley College, playing basketball for Rich Tucker and baseball for Ken Thompson. In 1976 Roger was named Skagit Valley College Athlete-Of-The-Year. Following his time at SVC, Valentine attended and played baseball at Central Washington University; graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1978. Coach Valentine then went to Western Washington University where he earned a Masters of Education in School Counseling in 1980. He has been an elementary school counselor in the Mount Vernon School District for the past 27 years.

Roger began his coaching career at LaVenture Middle School in 1976 before assisting Jim Halm at Skagit Valley College from 1979-81. He then worked with his former high school coach Dave Quall, who took over at SVC from 1981-92. While assisting Quall the Cardinals won NWAACC Titles in 1984 and 1988. Dave Quall was then elected to the Washington State Legislature in 1992 and Valentine was named Interim Coach, and then formerly given the title of Head Coach at Skagit Valley College.

Roger is married to the former Pamela Morris of Bremerton, WA and they have two children; Carmen (24) and Cory (21).
