Coach Shen recently finished with his first season at Skagit Valley College. The program made a positive step towards our bright future. He was recognized by his peers and was awarded Coach of the Year for the Northern Regional Conference.

Before becoming as the head coach at SVC, he was an assistant coach at Whatcom CC from '07-'09 where he helped establish a dominant program in the NWAACC conference. He also assisted at Tacoma CC for one year. Tao is very excited to take on the unique and challenging opportunity to work with everyone to rebuild the Cardinal program into one that is accustomed to success and is respected among their NWAACC peers.

He played his collegiate soccer at Concordia University in Portland, OR where he helped the team to win a conference championship and a national ranking as high as #16 in the country. He also played one year at Spokane CC and helped the team with a 3rd place finish in 2005. Coach Shen played semi-professionally with the Yakima Reds (PDL) and Las Vegas Strikers (MPSL) during his summer month away from Washington State University.

Coach Shen, a native Chinese, lived 5 years in Germany where he started to develop a passion for the game of soccer. He is excited and honored to lead the Cardinal Soccer back to its winning ways.  He has earned a degree in Pharmacy from Washington State University and currently works as a staff pharmacist at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, WA.
