Opportunity Grant
Program Overview
Get a grant to pay your way to higher education and higher wages. Opportunities in Early Childhood Education, Welding, Light Maintenance Technician and Medical Assistant at Skagit Valley College. See if you qualify to get an Opportunity Grant to pay your college tuition and fees and $1,000 towards books and supplies. You may be eligible - If you are a former or current Skagit Valley College GED, Adult Basic Education, English as a Second Language or Adult High School student. Complete your application now!

- Welding
- Medical Assisting and Nursing
- Automotive Technology
In addition to tuition, you will also get one-on-one support to:
- Complete college forms and paperwork
- Support your success in college classes
- Find childcare
- Search for a job
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the Opportunity Grant at Skagit Valley College you must meet ALL of these eligibility requirements.
- Be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident
- Be eligible for resident tuition (you must have lived in Washington for at least 12 continous months) and be at least 18 years old.
- Be accepted for enrollment or be currently enrolled at Skagit Valley College
- Be interested in Allied Health Education, Welding, Automotive or Early Childhood Education
- Be at or below the Income Guidelines listed below:

For each additional person, add 3,740 | ||
- Fill out and return the application form
- Documents needed: drivers license, social security card, FAFSA student aid report, and proof of income (i.e. current year's tax form)
- If eligible an intake appointment will be scheduled
- Attend Intake Session
- Meet with advisor and complete Individual Employment and Educational Plans
- Student must maintain cumulative 2.0 grade point average or higher each quarter
- High level of motivation and commitment to achieve career and educational goals
- Attend Monthly Workshops
- Communicate with Project Manager on a monthly basis by appointment, phone, or email
