Hello everyone! My name is Ming Wai Choi (Rita), an international student from Hong Kong. I have been here since the fall quarter of 2008. I still remember that when I first came here, I did not know where the computer lab was and how to go to the library. However, today, I would like to be more involved as an active member of SVC. So, I am now running for the position of Student Services Issues Representative in the Student Government.
When I in my Hong Kong high school, I was class representative of my school student government. And my job is response students' opinion to school. In this job and position, I understood the communication between all the person-in-charge, teachers and students opinions. Therefore, I know that interaction between the students, the advisors, the principles and representatives from public organizations is very essential in providing adequate and excellent services and activities to the students. Without effective and healthy communications, the endeavors would not run smoothly and efficiently.
If I am successful in becoming the Student Services Issues Representative, I will consider the students' benefits as priority, to provide the best services and activities for them. To accomplish this goal, I will do my best to communicate with students. I will make sure to understand the requests from students and get the best results from the legislative board. I will be responsible in assisting the campus to fulfill as many as the reasonable result to students opinion.
To balance my effort in both academic performance and duties, time management would be the key. As a dependable college student, procrastination would not be allowed. I will plan the work in a suitable timetable, and I will address it completely. This would be able to me to finish the work, homework assignments and duties from the Student Government, ahead of time, avoiding stress and indecision.
So, your precious vote is very important to me. Please give an opportunity to me to serve all you guys in the Student Government. Thank you very much!

I am interested in the Student Services Issues Representative position of student government. I was an exchange student in Louisiana about two years ago. I am currently an SVC international student from Hong Kong. Therefore, I could better understand the different groups of students' needs or concerns. I was a red-cross assistant in high school and also a hall monitor in elementary school. I am also an active person, a good listener, and observant, so I believe I can satisfy this position and provide quality service to our students. Besides, I have been studying at SVC for a year. I am trying to get my pre-nursing associates degree because I want to be a nurse. In fact, it is really a challenging for me to have those science classes, but I believe there nothing is impossible if you put forth your best effort. What's more, I want to enrich my college life. This is why I chose to apply to student government because I know there will be much more I could learn from our school and community. I understand that as a student service representative, I will need to communicate with many people or help other students, and I am really interested in this position and believe I can handle it. This quarter, I have a good schedule and am also a good time manager, so I will have plenty of time to work on my subjects and activities. I am excited about helping to make SVC a more fun place.

From beginning of my secondary education I started demonstrating my leadership. In first year of high school I held spot in student council for city of Belgrade, representing my high school. Year after, I was the one of fifty selected to participate in State Department's exchange student program. A-SMYLE (American-Serbia and Montenegro, Youth Leadership Exchange) brought me to Sedro-Woolley to promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of Serbia and Montenegro; to develop a sense of civic responsibility and commitment to community development among youth and to assist the next generations of Serbia and Montenegro in developing the qualities they will need to fulfill their countries' aspirations for change in the 21st Century.
During time in US students participate in community service, civic education, and leadership development activities. As an exchange student last year I participated in various extracurricular activities, completed over one hundred hours of community service and attended leadership seminars and meetings with organization.
As a MVC Vice President, I will dedicate my time to improve student fulfilling students' needs and goals. Bringing newness to college through my experience, would like to contribute our small community of students. By supporting coworkers and developing relations on any job I try to enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task.
With time I have available for extracurricular activities I am able to perform duties of MVC Vice President. Since I have "easy" classes and no job, I possess extra time that might be needed while holding office. My trustfulness makes me a reliable and responsible candidate for position. As a vice president I will work hard on gaining my personal experience, improving leadership abilities and requiring skills for future success.

To accomplish this goal, I will go the community to see which preschool needs help and I will provide help to them.
