Club Relations and Communications Representative
Hello! I'm Tszman Wong, or you can also call me Portia. I am
your Club Relations and Communication Representative in this academic year. It
would be great if you can come to the Student Life Office to say hi
to me! Thanks!
Campus Secretary
My name is Tsz Yuen Chan, and my English name is Timothy. I got some working experience in Hong Kong but I hope I could learn some experience in the U.S. as well. In additional, I know communication is important so this is a chance for me to work with other cultural country. Leaning experience and work with other are the purpose that I apply for this position.
First, let me tell you some of my personal experience in Hong Kong. I graduated from a school which I learned about commercial computing application. I have been an executive in an education company, and a clerk of human resource department in a company. I also had some computing freelance job experience that I repaired computer and setup a network. Since these reasons I have the confident to handle the position.
In Skagit Valley College Student Government, my goal is only serve other students as I can. When I came to the U.S., I get a lot of help from SVC. I feel warm here so I want to do something for the college. Moreover, Campus Secretary is the position that I can do well and become helpful. I would like to have this opportunity to give after I take in the college.
In the school, I take classes and study hard. I would not say I have very well GPA, but I can handle it because I do my best most of the time. If I get this position, I will do my best to accomplish my responsibilities. I will treat this position seriously like I treat my classes.
In short, learning in the U.S. is my personal goal. The working experience in Student Government is a good opportunity to learn culture and team work. In addition, I would like to serve other student in the college because I have confident to do it well.
Community Services Representative
From beginning of
my secondary education I started demonstrating my leadership. In first
year of high school I held spot in student council for city of
Belgrade, representing my high school. Year after, I was the one of
fifty selected to participate in State Department's exchange student
program. A-SMYLE (American-Serbia and Montenegro, Youth Leadership
Exchange) brought me to Sedro-Woolley to promote mutual understanding
between the people of the United States and the people of Serbia and
Montenegro; to develop a sense of civic responsibility and commitment
to community development among youth and to assist the next generations
of Serbia and Montenegro in developing the qualities they will need to
fulfill their countries' aspirations for change in the 21st Century.
During time in US
students participate in community service, civic education, and
leadership development activities. As an exchange student last year I
participated in various extracurricular activities, completed over one
hundred hours of community service and attended leadership seminars and
meetings with organization.

Instructional Issues Representative
I was an exchange student in Louisiana about two years ago. I am
currently an SVC international student from Hong Kong. Therefore, I
could better understand the different groups of students' needs or
concerns. I was a red-cross assistant in high school and also a hall
monitor in elementary school. I am also an active person, a good
listener, and observant, so I believe I can satisfy this position and
provide quality service to our students. Besides, I have been studying
at SVC for a year. I am trying to get my pre-nursing associates degree
because I want to be a nurse. In fact, it is really a challenging for
me to have those science classes, but I believe there nothing is
impossible if you put forth your best effort. What's more, I want to
enrich my college life. This is why I chose to apply to student
government because I know there will be much more I could learn from
our school and community. I understand that as a student service
representative, I will need to communicate with many people or help
other students, and I am really interested in this position and believe
I can handle it. This quarter, I have a good schedule and am also a
good time manager, so I will have plenty of time to work on my subjects
and activities. I am excited about helping to make SVC a more fun place.
Student Services Issues Representative
Ming Wai Choi
Hello everyone! My name is Ming Wai Choi (Rita), an international student from Hong Kong. I have been here since the fall quarter of 2008.
When I in my Hong Kong high school, I was class representative of my school student government. And my job is response students' opinion to school. In this job and position, I understood the communication between all the person-in-charge, teachers and students opinions. Therefore, I know that interaction between the students, the advisors, the principles and representatives from public organizations is very essential in providing adequate and excellent services and activities to the students. Without effective and healthy communications, the endeavors would not run smoothly and efficiently.
To balance my effort in both academic performance and duties, time management would be the key. As a dependable college student, procrastination would not be allowed. I will plan the work in a suitable timetable, and I will address it completely. This would be able to me to finish the work, homework assignments and duties from the Student Government, ahead of time, avoiding stress and indecision.
