ASSET and COMPASS Test

COMPASS Test

After you are accepted for admission to Skagit Valley College, you may make an appointment for a Placement test, COMPASS testing. The COMPASS test is an un-timed computerized writing, reading and math placement test taken on campus. You will receive your course placement results immediately following the test. Only current placement scores will be accepted (taken within the last three years). After your test you will make an appointment for advising, new students will be directed to a New Student Group Advising 2 hour session for your designated degree pathway. During this appointment, you will receive an orientation to the college and help in planning your course of study.

NOTE: You may re-take the COMPASS test only once after your initial testing. A subsequent re-take may be done after a three month waiting period. (COMPASS Re-take tests fees are $15.00)

Prior to the appointment, you should study the offerings listed in our Online Course Search or in our current year on-line catalog. You should also become informed of any special requirements at other institutions to which you plan to transfer. If you are a high school student, you may want to visit your high school counselor for assistance.
