Cooperative Education supplies employers with a rich source of well-prepared employees. Studies show that it can also save employers time and money by helping them to identify and train future personnel - workers who will stay longer because both prospective employee and employer have learned if they're a good match. Students also learn about the company's culture. Employers also get a critical advance view of the qualities their likely new hires will possess. And finally, by hiring Cooperative Education students as interns, you'll get a sense of what kinds of skills and training Skagit Valley College is providing to our future workforce. Armed with this knowledge, you can provide us with meaningful feedback if we need to update or add anything to our curriculum in order to better prepare our students for work in the "real-world."

Finding An Intern

 - Employers can post open positions on the Skagit Valley College Online Job Board. If you are not yet registered in our system, click here to register. Once registered, you'll be able to post paid and unpaid jobs and internships in your organization, review student resumes, and learn about career services events.

 - You can contact the Co-op Ed Coordinator and describe the specific type of intern you are seeking. Indicate the necessary skills you desire and he will pass along your information to the appropriate faculty and staff to help connect you with the student you need. He can also provide you with information about the State Work Study Program, where you can hire a part-time working student and receive 65% of their wages back from the state. It's easy, rewarding...and profitable!
