Computer Literacy (Mount Vernon Campus)
Technical jargon and ever-changing hardware can make getting started with computers intimidating. This class helps make sense of computer terminology and familiarizes the user with common concepts. Topics include hardware, Internet basics, computer viruses, word processing and spreadsheet basics, keyboard shortcuts, and even how to connect your computer and hardware to make it work correctly. No previous computer experience is necessary and there are no prerequisites for this class. Laptop and netbook computers are welcome.

Dig Photo I (Whidbey Campus)
This class covers the fundamentals of digital photography and is for people with a camera that can change to manual, not just automatic. (Point-and-shoot cameras will work if they have advanced manual settings). You will learn how to use the settings on your camera, how to create stronger pictures by using fun techniques and by using composition and lighting skills. Photoshop Elements II (Mount Vernon Campus)
Go beyond the basics of Photoshop Elements, the user-friendly, affordable edition and little brother of Adobe Photoshop. After a quick review, we will go on to projects appropriate to the needs of the class. These might include creating perfect portraits, restoring old photos, adding overlays and glow to your images and other enhancements. There will be plenty of time to work on your own projects with Karen's advice and instruction to help achieve your goals. You can use the school's computers which have a version 10, or bring you own laptops with more current versions. Karen will explain the process using versions 10, 11 and 12, as needed. Prerequisite: Photoshop Elements I or good working knowledge of the program.
