A Juried exhibit of works created by local artists during the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic. During this extremely difficult period when so many lives and livelihoods are being lost, artists and craftspeople have not stopped making and creating. In some cases, many of their regular shows that they count on, have been cancelled due to covid restrictions. This exhibit can be beneficial to artists as an opportunity to have their work “seen”. I have also been thinking that the reasons artists create and what they are making may have changed due to the current crisis. They may be creating works to help others in some way, or directing attention to politics or current social issues. Some artists may even be creating art for personal and therapeutic reasons as a way to “cope” with all the bad news. I hope that the artwork in this show will serve to buoy spirits and prove that the desire to create will prevail during this time of tragedy and loss. Our artists will continue to do what they do and shine a light where it is needed.
