 Course Description  

Advanced GED Preparation. Non-transfer credit courses that prepare adult and family literacy students who have a goal of earning the GED equivalency certificate to pass any of the remaining three GED subject-area tests (after completing GED preparation) and, at intake, score 246 and above on a CASAS appraisal test (grade equivalents 12.0+).

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Students will be able to demonstrate mastery of the Washington State Adult Learning Standards for Advanced GED Preparation as measured by approved assessment tools, procedures, and methodologies.
    • Reading: Adults performing at Level 6 can read and comprehend long, complex texts at an appropriate pace and with good comprehension to independently accomplish structured or unstructured complex reading activities in a variety of familiar and novel settings.
    • Writing: Adults performing at Level 6 can write a variety of sentences in medium-length, detailed text and in a variety of rhetorical forms, easily and with few errors, to independently accomplish structured or unstructured complex writing activities in a variety of familiar and novel settings.
    • Math: Adults performing at Level 6 can easily select and apply the knowledge, skills, and strategies at this level to independently accomplish minimally structured, complex math tasks in a variety of comfortable and familiar settings.
