Skagit Valley College names 2 finalists in presidential search, community forums March 7, 8 and 14, 15

The Skagit Valley College Board of Trustees has selected two finalists from among 46 applicants for district president: Dr. Clyne Namuo and Dr. Christopher Villa. SVC will hold community forums in person and via Zoom with each candidate on its Mount Vernon and Whidbey Island campuses next week.

“The Board is pleased with the quality and experience of the finalists, and we’re looking forward to meeting with Dr. Namuo and Dr. Villa,” said Flora Perez-Lucatero, SVC Board chair. “We’d like to invite the community to meet the candidates and provide feedback.”

Candidates

Dr. Clyne Namuo
Dr. Clyne Namuo Presidential CandidateNamuo is currently serving as Interim President at Phoenix College in Phoenix, AZ. Namuo most recently served as Vice President of Learning and Chief Academic Officer at South Mountain Community College. Prior to joining Phoenix College, Namuo served in numerous roles at Cochise College in Sierra Vista, AZ. Namuo holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Higher Education Strategy from the University of Arizona’s Center for the Study of Higher Education, a master’s degree in Information Systems from San Diego State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Hawaii. SVC Presidential Candidate Dr. Christopher VillaDr. Christopher Villa
Villa most recently served as President of Portland Community College’s Rock Creek campus in Portland, OR. He has served an accumulated 12 years as Vice President of Student Services for Los Angeles Mission College, Fresno City College, and Long Beach City College.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Social Ecology from University of California, Irvine, a master’s degree in Public Administration from University of Southern California, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy from University of Utah. Villa has also served as an adjunct faculty member in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Department at California State University, Northridge. Full bio here.
