The Board of Trustees is responsible for formulating policy to govern the operation of Skagit Valley College.

Two levels of policy shall guide and govern Skagit Valley College; (1) Board Policy, and (2) Operational Policy.

Division of responsibilities:

The governance activities of the College shall maintain a clear distinction between:

  1. Strategic, values-based policies, which are the responsibility of the Board of Trustees (Board Policy).
  2. Administrative policies and procedures, which are the responsibility of the President, and used by employees to implement Board policies.

The Board shall review:

  1. The Mission and Strategic Priorities consistent with the College’s Strategic Plan timeline.
  2. Board policies on an annual basis.
  3. Results of an annual Board self-assessment.

The President shall ensure that Operational Policies and Procedures are reviewed consistently and are consistent with Board Policy
