English Placement Using Your High School Transcript
-
For English placement, we accept High School transcripts from across the United States. International transcripts are not eligible for English placement determination.
-
GPA is based on a 4.0 scale. If you high school uses a different GPA scale, we will complete a calculation to find the equivalency.
-
If you want to place higher than transcript placement allows, review other placement options including taking the Accuplacer Assessment, as SVC will honor the higher placement.
You will place into the following courses based on your cumulative high school GPA:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 – 4.0: English &101
- Cumulative GPA of 2.25 – 2.99: English 99
Math Placement Using Your High School Transcript
- For Math placement, we accept high school transcripts from across Washington State. Out of state and international transcripts are not eligible for Math placement determinations.
- There is no averaging of grades. A student with an A and C in each semester of a year-long course would not be eligible for placement in a course that requires “at least B (each semester).” A student with an A and a B in each semester of a year-long course would look at “at least B (each semester)” placement.
- If you want to place higher than transcript placement allows, review other placement options including taking the Accuplacer Assessment, as SVC will honor the higher placement.
- Once you begin your SVC math course, please see your math instructor as soon as possible within the first few days if you feel you were not placed correctly.
