Student Leadership
Lead. Engage. Make an Impact.
Get involved, make an impact, and help shape the student experience at Skagit Valley College. Student Leadership offers opportunities for students to develop skills, build connections, and contribute to campus life through meaningful roles.
At SVC, there are two primary leadership pathways on each campus:
- Student Government (ASSVC)
- Program Board
Students have the opportunity to participate in one or both, depending on their interests and availability.
Student Government (ASSVC)
The Associated Students of Skagit Valley College (ASSVC) represents the voice of the student body. As an enrolled student, you are automatically a member of ASSVC.
Student Government works in partnership with faculty, staff, and administrators to help shape college policies and improve the student experience. Representatives serve on committees, contribute to decision-making, and advocate for student needs—including helping determine how Services & Activities (S&A) fees are allocated.
ASSVC leaders also:
- Meet regularly to discuss campus issues and initiatives
- Represent students at institutional meetings and the Board of Trustees
- Participate in shared governance across the college
Meetings are open to all students, faculty, and staff, and provide an opportunity to engage directly with student leaders.
Program Board
The Program Board focuses on creating a vibrant and engaging campus environment by planning events
and activities for students.
Program Board members:
- Help design and organize campus events and programs
- Collaborate with campus partners and student groups
- Bring new ideas to enhance student life
This is a great opportunity for students who enjoy event planning, creativity, and building community on campus.
