Faculty and Advisory Committee
The degree and certificate programs at Skagit Valley College rely on the involvement and support of over 300 business and industry employers and employees from the community. Advice and direction offered by experts in the working world ensure that students are acquiring the knowledge and skills based on current industry standards that are in demand in the workforce.
An advisory committee representing a specific professional technical field meets regularly with the faculty of the same instructional area on matters of curriculum review and development, facilities and equipment, guidance and career advisement, employment opportunities and placement, plus public relations and promotional activities.
Advisory committees are appointed by the college administration for each professional-technical program or program cluster. The committees are composed of equal numbers of employees and employers representing local business, labor, and industry. A minimum of two advisory committee meetings must be held during each calendar year.
