The Community Integration Program
The Breaking Free club at Skagit Valley College

A Safe Place to Grow and Learn

At Skagit Valley College we welcome students from all backgrounds, including those who have been incarcerated. The Community Integration Program (CIP) is here to support students who have been incarcerated to pursue their educational and career goals. Whether just released or out for years, education is a pathway to positive change, growth, and can lead to a stable career. The education available at Skagit Valley College can lead you anywhere you want to go.

Come see what SVC has to offer. Through individualized support, the reentry navigator at SVC assists students with the first steps to getting started through graduation. Please give us a call or email us to get started.

The Community Integration Program provides assistance with:

  • Applying for admissions
  • Enrollment
  • Choosing classes and a career path
  • Financial aid
  • Referrals to community resources that assist with housing, and offer counseling and other support services

Breaking Free Club

The Breaking Free Club is a student club at Skagit Valley College. It is a safe and welcoming place for anyone in need of peer support when it comes to getting acclimated with the college. Our club was started to help those who have been incarcerated and their families find support re-integrating into school, jobs, and society. We offer support to anyone interested in the justice system, the community, and making a change. The Breaking Free Club meets weekly during the school year. Please contact us for more information.

Recovery Support

The Breaking Free Club is currently integrating support for students in recovery or those seeking recovery resources as related to substance use. The goal of the club is to create a community on campus of students who have shared experiences and to support each other to achieve their educational goals. It is our hope that by working together we can reduce stigma and improve the experiences for students on our campus and out in the community by working together to create opportunities for shared success.
