Supporting Student AchievementLearning Into Action
Learning Into Action is an integrative learning experience designed to help students think analytically about knowledge and skills gained in the college classroom and develop an independent project in which to apply that knowledge and skill. The project may relate to career exploration, development or continuing education. The student, the Faculty Sponsor, and the Site Supervisor work together in supporting student learning objectives related to a specific placement or project. LIA is a “gray area” elective course, which you will plan in collaboration with a SVC faculty member with some expertise in the skill and knowledge area(s) you wish to apply in carrying out your project. See a Counselor or your Faculty Advisor for advice on who might be an appropriate LIA Sponsor.
Placement Opportunities
Students are responsible for locating a placement. A placement should provide an experience and activities that meet the student’s learning objectives and ability to apply skills and knowledge gained in previous college coursework. Placement resources include the LIA Past Placement database on the LIA Forms webpage. Double click cells in column J in order to get details of placements.
