 Course Description  

Study of structural, evolutionary, and reproductive relationships of plants in the kingdoms: Prokaryota, Protista, Fungi and Plantae. The course content is designed for those students who plan to transfer and major in biology, agriculture or forestry. Lab included.

 Prerequisite  

Prerequisite: BIOL& 211 or permission of the instructor.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. After completing this course, the student will be able to: understand the basic morphological and anatomical differences between thallose, nonvascular and vascular plants; understand basic nomenclature and phylogenetic comparisons between primitive plant-like organisms (i.e. blue-green algae, fungi, algae), nonvascular and vascular plants; design and implement a lab experiment which demonstrates understanding and application of scientific methods and critical thinking.
