 Course Description  

Explores various systems of strength training and the scientific principles involved with increasing human strength. Covers skeletal muscles, joints, and all forms of isotonic and isometric exercise.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Describe weight training programs used to increase power, strength and muscular endurance.
  2. Demonstrate and teach proper exercise and spotting techniques using both free weights and machines.
  3. Identify major anatomical components of the muscle cell and motor neuron.
  4. Describe the neuromuscular adaptations to strength training.
  5. Identify proper technique and form for free weight and machine exercises.
  6. List and define the major biomechanical terms associated with strength training and human movement.
  7. Describe adaptations of bone and tendons to resistance training.
  8. Create a strength program based on individual physical differences and personal goals.
