Luis Valdez is an American playwright, screenwriter, film director, and actor. Valdez is best known for his play Zoot Suit, his movie La Bamba, and his creation of El Teatro Campesino, uniting farmworkers during the Delano strike by farmworkers in 1965, alongside Cesar Chavez. Valdez’s commitment to farmworker rights showcases his dedication to social justice and equity, leaving a powerful legacy of advocacy in the agricultural labor movement.
