Welcome!

The Office for Equity and Inclusion (OEI) leads and facilitates the development of institutional policies and protocols intended to create a more representative, equitable and inclusive Skagit Valley College. The OEI leads by example, partnering with campus departments and units to create inclusive and equitable educational opportunities for all students, faculty and professional staff.
With a collaborative approach to diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, The Office for Equity and Inclusion will serve as the primary college resource for the identification and analysis of best practices and national trends related to access, achievement, inclusion, intercultural competencies, diversity and equity.

In Solidarity with our Asian and Asian American Communities

As a college, as a community we denounce the racism that has perpetuated these violent acts against humanity. Not only do we stand by our Asian and Asian American communities but also take the moment to reflect how as an institution of higher education we can view and act in dismantling the structural and systemic ways in which racism operates. Teaching for global education and historical understanding is crucial, from the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and parts of American history that have negatively impacted Asian communities, Asian and Asian Americans have confronted a long legacy of exclusion and inequity. The Office for Equity and Inclusion will continue to advocate and offer opportunities for dialogue and support to our faculty, staff and students.
